What’s a gardener-minded editor?
Most editors are florists, not gardeners, to their authors. A florist does beautiful work; they clip and arrange flowers into bouquets that will look stunning on a table. But then the bouquet wilts, and the client will have to go back to the florist for a new bouquet.
But a gardener is thinking to the future seasons ahead. A gardener plants, nourishes, and prunes their flora so the beautiful landscape comes back season after season.
Gardener-minded editors don’t want to just polish what their authors give them—they want to equip their clients to be stronger writers, more profitable authors, and thriving members of the writing community.

When editors are educated, ethical, and enfranchised within the industry, authors flourish. And if I can help raise that standard, even a little, then I feel like I’m doing the work I was made to do.
