I have my Bachelor of Arts in creative writing with certificates in French and linguistics. I’m a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association, and in college I was a member of Sigma Tau Delta, an international English honors society. I’ve worked for several publishers, editing fiction and nonfiction works in all stages of production. My short fiction has won several awards, and though I specialize in helping fiction writers, I’m passionate about helping any writing project—from novels to academic essays to cover letters—reach its full potential.  I want to help writers translate their ideas into more than just stories, but experiences. From the brainstorming process to editing, I’m here to make your story come alive.

Outside of Rooted in Writing, I write short stories and speculative fiction, though I read anything I can get my hands on, from biographies to literary fiction to philosophy textbooks. I’m currently working on a fantasy trilogy featuring electromagnetic magic and a murderous mistake. I live in Plano, Texas, with my all my furries: two cats, a black German shepherd, a hedgehog, and one bearded husband. I’ve always had a passion for dance and love to work with theater tech. I have a professional working proficiency in French and belong to a couple of French clubs in my community. Ask me about my summer in Normandy sometime—changed my life! I am a strong believer of the Wordsworthian Stroll, and you can often find me lost in thought along one of Dallas’s many walking trails.

Copy Editor, Manuscript Evaluator, Proofreader

.

As a kid, I took stories apart to analyze how they worked. Now, I channel that love into my work as an editor. I earned my Bachelor’s in Communication with a minor in Spanish language and literature. I am a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association with five years of experience editing and writing in various business, academic, and literary circles. I have written and edited in an administrative capacity for a private university as well as in the mortgage and life insurance industries. For Rooted in Writing I specialize in copyediting and have found joy in working with authors of all kinds.

As a writer of short and novel-length fiction, I know how difficult it can be to perfect a manuscript. As an editor, I am your advocate. My first priority is to understand your vision and help you communicate it with elegance and clarity. My experience in business and academia has honed my ability to help you prune even the thorniest passages. Deadline-driven and detail-oriented, my goal is to help you prepare your work for the next step. Let’s go on an adventure.

Apart from Rooted in Writing, I love discussing psychology and philosophy, and on a day off you’ll likely find me outdoors: hiking, hammocking, or just hanging out beneath the trees with the neighborhood cats. I live in Waco, Texas with my husband, who is my live-in sounding board and my muse.
